Arthur Associates have been engaged by Carmarthenshire County Council to carry out a Neighbourhood Renewal Assessment in Trilwm, in the village of Trimsaran
Trilwm is a mixed tenure development consisting of 122 dwellings, being a mixture of semi-detached houses and bungalows. The development is located within Lower Gwendraeth Valley Renewal Area
Most of the properties in Trilwm were built in the 1950's, and a majority of the semi-detached houses are of non-traditional construction, having been built using a structural steel framed system known as Trusteel Mk II. Structural surveys to a sample of properties were undertaken in 2007 to council owned properties which revealed the presence of corrosion of the steel framework.
Arthur Associates are currently carrying out a Neighbourhood Renewal Assessment which will determine the best course of action to address the problems in Trilwm. The aims of the study are to deal with the issues relating to the Trusteel properties, specifically the structural condition and the poor thermal performance of many of the houses, together with measures aimed at improvements to the general environment
